Snow day!
The beast from the East was here the other week, but as I was at work I never managed to get out and photograph anything. The beast returned (or sent his cousin?) and as today is a Sunday, out we went for a little walk

Day 8 / 16 – Photo in a different location every day challenge
Location 8: Decoy Bomb Shelter, UK
In what was quite possibly the first time I have ever done it, today I took some ballet shoes with me to manoeuvre myself into position. When not frolicking bare foot in front of the camera, I’m normally stomping around in Dr Martens. Because I’ve loved DM’s for as long as I can remember and I own too many pairs…. The purple pair, the grey pair, the white pair, the black pair, the cherry blossom pair…. I have more but I’ll stop there, don’t want to look obsessed 😉 (Even though through typing about DMs I totally did not end up looking at them on the internet. That did not happen…)
Anywhoo, the purpose of the ballet pumps was because I wasn’t too sure what the state of the floor was going to be like. kB came with me and then proceeded to spook me by saying “Watch out for needles” (Of which I didn’t see or come across any so no worries!). I waddled across the floor and up the pile of rubble and perched at first because I wasn’t too comfortable sitting down; but then I got over that, took my shoes off and went for it!
Kudos for kB suggesting I block out the light rather than reaching for it, but minus points for him as he said the hand needed to be closer to my face. As I can’t see what I look like in camera I followed his instructions and took a few with my hand closer… Only to get home and see that the position of my hand totally blocked out any light on my face! So I had this shot or a reaching for the light shot to work with.

Day 4 / 16 – Photo in a different location every day challenge
Location 4: Ladybank Wood, Derbyshire, UK
Perhaps a little bit too early for bluebells ‘properly’, but they sure are out in force. Lots more still to come up though, so another trip to a different bluebell location will occur next week. I could have quite literally sat there for hours. It is a nice warm day, warm enough to be comfortable in a dress without a jumper and tights (and given I am always cold this means it must be warm). I was the only person there, and for the entire time I was there the only sounds I heard were me, and the sounds of nature. Lots of bees and butterflies ^_^

Day 2 / 16 – Photo in a different location every day challenge
Location 2: Owlthorpe Grasslands Grazing Project
This patch of land is at the end of the road my mum and dad live on. It used to be completely overgrown (grass up to your armpits overgrown, and I’m 5 foot 10!) but it is slowly being transformed. Fences have been put up, cows have been put in, trees have been chopped down… I’m not sure what the end goal with it is, as I’ve read that it was supposed to be turned into a living landscape; not too sure what the fences and paths and gates have to do with that. Maybe it has been bought.

Last Saturday me and kB went to an all day indoor mini festival kind of thing, we’d only really gone because I wanted to see Rotting Christ but we ended up not stopping until the end because we both had bad backs.
My bad back has remained since then….

Terrible day at work. Migraine, felt sick, eye felt like it was going to pop out of my head, and the bad back decided to rear it’s ugly head again. It hadn’t really gone all week, but it felt like it was getting better. But no, not today. Felt like Quasimodo and sitting, standing or laying down made no difference. Pain killers took some of the edge off of it but didn’t kill it. The back pain might be to do with my bad posture due to my knees/ligaments… Lovely!

Today though I did manage to get my pictures hung up in a cafe in Stocksbridge. The cafe is called CoffeeApple Cafe, and my pictures will be up for about 8 weeks during which time they will be for sale – £25 each : )
The inside of the cafe is really nice, loved the tables and chairs (old looking) and at the same it was still modern (iPads and Mac’s connected up the internet around the outside). The staff were really friendly, and gave us a free drink whilst I decided which images to hang up and the order to put them in, you can see what it looks like on my Facebook page if you are interested!

Tomorrow is my grandmas birthday, so we went to my mums for dinner. These delicious red leaves had grown through the fence from next door and I decided to brave the rain and go out and pick some!
The weather forecast it looking rather glum for the next few weeks – it rained all yesterday and a massive chunk of today (though annoyingly it cleared just before sunset). I hate being stuck inside : (
Yesterday’s photo involved the horse chestnuts I pulled over and collected on Friday. Going to have to play conkers with them soon ^_^
