My last laptop was running slowly, which made editing images a slow, slow process. By the time I’d uploaded them I couldn’t be bothered to post about it.
Anyway, I’ve got a new laptop (mmm speedy) and have started to take some photos again.

On the second to last day we spent the evening driving around the mountain roads near our hotel. We got a good view of the sunset from a different vantage point, and saw a ruined house-thingy in a wall.
Here you can see the smoke of the fires from further up in the mountain. It hadn’t rained in Croatia for a long time, so large parts had either been on fire, or were on fire.
I’m currently regretting not posting these as I was there, because I fell like things have been lost in the two months since we came back….

Last night I went to see Enslaved in Manchester. The gig didn’t end until 11 (on a Sunday!) so we didn’t get home until after midnight. I set my tripod/camera up and put my alarm on for the moon. I managed to shoot the eclipsing moon, but was disappointed with the blood moon. I guess from this we can learn that trying to shoot the moon after a couple of intermittent hours sleep when you have to be up for work in the morning does not lead to successful results!
Anyway I have functioned quite well on 3 and a half hours sleep today. An early night is in order though I think.

After failing to capture the Milky Way whilst on holiday in the Isle of Wight, I became a little bit obsessed with getting a shot of it back home. The problem is it’s very cloudy most of the time in England, and I was back at work. Tonight however the forces aligned. After a very wet morning (wherein kB was driving super cars around a track and I was stood watching in the rain!), it cleared up in the late afternoon and the weather man promised that the clouds would stay away until about 11pm. They did – huzzah!
It took me 45 minutes to drive here, and we arrived just as Astronomical Twilight was ending. The moon had already set at about the same time the sun set (which I find a bit weird) and the sky was clear. We only stopped for about an hour (a good chuck of which was stumbling around minding cow pats) but we could see the clouds creeping in over the horizon. Not that we wanted to stop any longer though, it was 4.5 degrees! So that’s another to tick off the to do list.
The only think I can think of that I want to shoot before the end of the year/365’s is a fox! //embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js
Really flippin’ enjoyed last night. I was so excited to come home and edit the shots. Looking forward to giving it another go soon, as no doubt kB will want to go and have a look because he likes things like this. Also looking forward even more to going to the Isle of Wight. Looks like there are piers and things on the beach AND I found a picture that someone had taken of the milky way over Shaklin, which is where we are stopping *flails arms about* Â
