Misty Mornings

Misty Mornings // 15 01 2022

In the dark winter months I struggle to wake up, as I’m sure many other do. When it’s spring/summer/autumn I tend to wake up naturally around 7:30-8, but in winter I’m pushing for a 9am wake up. I’m going to assume that it’s to do with the lack of light – sunrise this morning was at 8:15am.

After two failed wind turbine photoshoots I decided that I wanted to get up and go shoot this morning. The weather forecast looked OK for the morning. It changed from clear, to misty, to cloudy in the days before, and as I went to bed last night it said it was going to be cloudy.

Knowing that the forecast isn’t always right (whilst praying for mist or intermittent clouds) I decided to set my alarm and get out there.
I was rewarded hen I woke up with a nice misty view out of the window. I hastily got dressed (red dress tucked into gym leggings, with wellies on the bottom is a killer combo) and headed out.

Misty Mornings

It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten up and gone for a sunrise photo – Covid put a stop to most holidays! What I wasn’t anticipating was how many dog walkers there would be. Silly of me really, and I got a few funny looks prancing around in a bright red dress bare foot whilst there was frost on the floor.

Alone

None the less it was a morning well spent I think!

Grass : )

I woke up this morning and there was a nice sunset coming up; so I grabbed by camera and my 500mm zoom lens an set up on my chest of drawers. Unfortunately in my excitement / rush to get out of the house for work on time I didn’t really check the photos.

I got home excited to edit them, but they weren’t quite in focus 😦 So here we have another flower. Hopefully the weather over the weekend will be OK so I can get out and shoot something different!

Tulips

Today, when I got home from work the sun was still up. I played with the idea of getting in, swapping straight into my wellies and going back out. But I’ve been teaching all day and I decided that I just, quite simply, could not be bothered.

Had the sunset been an hour later, and I’d been able to grab a cuppa and have a little sit down, I would have gone out. By the time I’d worked up the energy to go for a walk, it was too late and the sun had already set. Which was a shame as the colours were really nice. Ho hum. The sun sets every day!

Buzzards, Ridgeway

Buzzards, Ridgeway // 03 01 2022

Today I went for a walk with my mum and dad. The best thing about living close to the countryside is the fact that we don’t have to drive to be able to go on nice walks.
This walk ended up being a bit longer than I initially anticipated. The other way when we had been on another walk I have noticed a weird looking field; there was some sort of crop or bush in it with a swirl like path. Today I decided I wanted to investigate it.
We didn’t quite make it to that exact field, but we did end up nearby, and from this view spot we could see the weird crop field, and some buzzards circulating.

One of my favourite things about the winter is the low sun, and the long shadows it creates. The contrast between the highlight and the shadows is just lovely, as well as the hazy, dreamlike feel everything has.
The walk was particularly enjoyable as the weather was so mild.

Project 365 // Weeks 2 and 3

I had every intention of doing a post last Sunday, and a post today; but I’m finding this years Project 365 a lot harder than when I did it last time – mainly because I’m training 4x a week, and what with work this doesn’t leave a lot of time to take, edit and upload photos. So they seem to be done in batches. There are more photos than I would like that are last minute jobs.

But I need to remember that the whole point of this was to get used to using a different camera system. Which I am doing.
